Best betting tips for English soccer on Saturday 9 March

The four-fold

  • Leicester City vs Fulham
  • Middlesbrough vs Brentford
  • Blackpool vs Southend United
  • Port Vale vs Mansfield Town

This is our no-nonsense approach: Four bankers who are expected to win, but with odds slightly longer than they should be. Leicester City couldn’t wish for a better first home game under Brendan Rogers, as they entertain a Championship-bound Fulham. Middlesbrough are in a rich vein of form, and they get our backing too.

In League One, things are looking up for Blackpool after their much-maligned former owners completed the sale of the club. We back the Seasiders – and the predicted 15 000 sell-out crowd – to do the business. Elsewhere, high-flyers Mansfield Town should have no trouble brushing aside Port Vale.

Total value: 15.65 – a R100 bet would win your R1 565 back.

The long shot

  • Newcastle United vs Everton
  • Reading vs Wigan Athletic
  • Bolton Wanderers vs Millwall
  • Plymouth Argyle vs Luton Town
  • Morecambe vs Forest Green Rovers

Three away wins have stretched the odds on our long shot for this weekend. However, all of those teams on their travels are statistically the favourites to win. Newcastle look stronger at home these days, and Reading have the pleasure of hosting a Wigan side who have won away once all season.

Total value: 50.04 – a R100 bet would win your R5 004 back.

Both teams to score

  • Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur
  • Bristol City vs Leeds United
  • Derby County vs Sheffield Wednesday
  • Bradford vs Peterborough
  • Walsall vs Fleetwood Town
  • Northampton Town vs Exeter City

Total value: 30.11 – a R100 bet would win your R3 011 back.

Huddersfield Town to beat Bournemouth 1-0

No, we haven’t gone insane. Not yet anyway. Huddersfield are looking a bit better under their new coaching set-up, but they’re definitely finishing in the relegation zone this year. Yet in the darkness, there is light.

They beat a very talented Wolves team 1-0 during their last home game, and Bournemouth just don’t show up in their away matches. If Town are going to win, they’re going to eek it out.

Total value: 7.28 – a R100 bet would win your R728 back.

Premier League tip of the weekend

Manchester United to beat Arsenal by two goals exactly

Ole’s at the wheel, and he’s driving Manchester United down the road to success. After leading the Red Devils to one of their best results in recent history vs PSG, United are on course to notch-up their tenth consecutive away victory.

The Emirates has been a happy hunting ground for them over the past decade, and although Arsenal will be seeking revenge for their recent FA Cup loss to Solskjaer’s team, we don’t see it happening: If United score early, they will control the game. It’s as simple as that.

Total value: 9.32 – a R100 bet would win your R932 back.

Betting tips for Premier League Soccer on Saturday 9 March

  • Highlands Park to DRAW with Baroka
  • Polokwane City to WIN against Golden Arrows
  • Kaizer Chiefs to WIN against Maritzburg United
  • AmaZulu to DRAW with Bidvest Wits

The two draws, two wins formula is back for the PSL. Baroka are likely to frustrate Highlands Park, whereas the Clever Boys haven’t looked too sharp recently – we think they’ll drop points in Durban.

We foresee Chiefs to get the better of Maritzburg, despite the visitor’s renewed confidence. Elsewhere, Polokwane have made their home a bit of a fortress this year and they look good value to earn all three points.

Total value: 26.37 – a R100 bet would win your R2 637 back.

Tips for betting on the CAF Champions League

Orlando Pirates to win by 4-0, 5-0 or 6-0 against FC Platinum

Backing Chiefs to win by a landslide is risky business. But we think tonight could be the evening the Bucs let loose. We’ve been teased by some pretty flattering odds, and reckon there’s value in backing a thrashing-to-nil.

Total value: 26.37 – a R100 bet would win your R2 637 back.
