27-year-old Ernest Mabaso, one of the two accused of killing the Khoza family members in Vlakfontein has killed himself. It’s believed he hung himself.
The case against Mabaso and Fita Khupe, who are accused of the murder of seven family members in Vlakfontein, south of Johannesburg – was expected to resume at the Protea Magistrate’s Court in Soweto on Thursday.
The two were facing seven counts of murder.
Mabaso faced additional charges of theft, robbery and three counts of rape.
Three women and four children were found murdered and their bodies buried in a heap of sand at their home in Vlakfontein.
