The High Court in Cape Town is expected to continue with the sentencing proceedings in the case of former property mogul, Jason Rohde on Wednesday
Last year, he was found guilty of murdering his wife Susan at the Spier Wine Estate outside Stellenbosch in 2016.
Susan’s body was found in the bathroom of the plush Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch.
Last month, in handing down judgement, Judge Gayaat Salie-Hlope described the murder as the result of a love triangle that had ended in tragedy.
Rohde admitted to an affair with a colleague and maintained throughout that his wife was a suicide risk as a result of the affair.
The former property mogul’s mother, Brenda Rohde, earlier testified in mitigation of sentence.
She says her son had always taken good care of his parents and was never aggressive.
She says, “As a son he’s been a very good son to us.”
