Eskom says load shedding is likely to continue until July because its power stations are failing and its infrastructure is damaged.
The power utility says it will implement rotational stage 2 power cuts from 1pm until 10pm on Monday.
On Sunday, most South Africans were left in the dark until around 8.30pm.
This is the first time Eskom has implemented load shedding since 20 December last year.
Eskom acting head of generation, Andrew Etzinger says they are working towards addressing the problems at two of its power stations. He says that while the company has spent billions on new power stations, it still isn’t enough.
Etzinger says the State Capture has also placed pressure on the power utility.
Eskom’s website contains information on load shedding schedules for various areas.
