Capetonians across the Cape are rejoicing today as the Mother City’s dam levels have officially pushed past the 80% mark for the first time in years.

As of August 12, 2019, Cape Town’s overall water storage reached 80.6% thanks to the bountiful rains that graced the province last week.

The city’s lowest storage dam – Theewaterskloof – has finally pushed above the 70% mark, reaching 70.8% as of today.

Berg River and Steenbras Upper are Cape Town’s fullest dams at 101.7% and 101% respectively, followed by Steenbras Lower at 98.9% and Wemmershoek at 85.1%.

No more rainy weather is forecast for this week but we are hoping to see some showers early next week.
