The
PADI Rescue diver course in Cape Town expands
your knowledge of scuba diving,
increases your level of scuba diving
skill, and makes you more aware of what is happening
around you in the scuba diving
environment.
The
PADI Rescue Diver Certification
is a prerequisite for the PADI Divemaster
rating, and the distinguished PADI Master
Scuba Diver Certification. Most importantly,
rescue diver training can help you save lives and
increase scuba diving safety by
preparing you to respond properly to scuba diving
emergencies and near-emergencies.
To complete the PADI Rescue course there are 12
basic scenarios to be practiced in order to assist
other scuba divers, training in self-rescue skills,
and a class room portion which includes self study,
lectures, and a final exam. Topic areas include:
First aid for Scuba Diving Maladies, First Aid for
Marine injuries, Emergency procedures, Rescue equipment,
Panic Syndrome, Distress Recognition, Self- Rescue,
Rescue Entries and approaches, Transporting, Submerged
Diver rescue, Missing Scuba Diver Procedures, In-water
Artificial Respiration, Equipment considerations,
Rescue exits etc.
Course Duration
The PADI Rescue course takes a minimum of 3 days
but generally we ask that you set aside at least
5-7 days for weather and other circumstances. The
course takes place at our dive centre in Fish Hoek,
Cape Town while the practical scenarios occur at
the beach near Simon's Town just down the coast
on the False Bay side of Cape Town.
PREREQUISITES FOR ENTERING THE PADI RESCUE DIVER
COURSE
To qualify for participation in the PADI Rescue
diver course, a person must be at least 15 years
of age (or 12 years of age for PADI Junior Rescue
diver) and certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water
Diver. An individual who does not hold this certification
may take the course if he can prove equivalent competency.
Equivalency in this case would be defined as proof
of certification beyond entry level and a minimum
of 20 logged dives, documenting experience in the
area of deep and navigation.
CPR / FIRST AID TRAINING
Prior to awarding the PADI Rescue
Diver rating to an individual, the student must
have successfully completed a CPR/First Aid course
within the past two years.
First Aid is a basic training course in cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and emergency care. The First Aid
course is eight hours in length.
Topics covered include - Primary Assessment, CPR,
obstructed airway, bleeding, wounds and bandaging,
shock, illness assessment, stroke, allergic reactions
etc.
DATES & TIMES
The
PADI Rescue Diver Course in Cape Town can take place
any day that suits you and does not necessarilly
have to run on consecutive days. The PADI Rescue
Diver Course usually begins at 10am and ends at
around 15h00 each day
PRICE
The
price of the PADI Rescue Diver Course is ZAR2500/person.
This includes dives, in-water scuba training, diver
tuition, PADI certification and PADI Rescue Diver
manual and slate.
